When Laura first told me what she was planning for her and Johnny's wedding I was hooked. A backyard with tipi, a pony and trap, the kinds of things that for me, feel like a wedding that will be completely personal and unique.
They couldn’t have asked for a better day. Blue skies and sunshine (ok maybe one shower). Laura was such a relaxed bride. She got her hair and make done in a salon in Naas and the ‘putting on the dress’ moment was done within seconds as she slipped it over her head. Done. Happy. Ready....and absolutely stunning!
We met their two beautiful children, Reuben and Jack, at the church in Kill. Poor Jack wasn’t feeling well. Laura turned to me and said “Claire, it is ok to carry Jack down the aisle with me right?” My reply was “of course”. I’m no traditional wedding photographer, so for me this was a really natural moment and for her, being Jack's mum comes first, even on her wedding day. Turns out, it was one of the highlights of her day; having her dad and her boys by her side as she walked up the aisle. All the time Johnny was serenading her with 'San Diego Serenade' by Tom waits. What a beautiful thing to do.
Music played a big part on the day as Johnny is in Redwood, a really successful wedding band. He’s a true romantic, proposing to Laura on her birthday while on a helicopter ride. These two are made for each other. They have such great fun together and had me cracking up all day. Their house and land, which was their venue for the day, really was the perfect place to have a wedding with a real festival vibe. They worked so hard to get everything right and ready for the day and they kicked ass at!
